Vatelin is a faithful husband – mostly.  Lucy is a faithful wife – kind of.   But their “fidelity” will be put to the test when a series of sly suitors and femme’s fatales invade their cozy little world!

The Story starts with an overzealous lady’s man Dr. Potegnac who has followed the demure Lucy home and assailed her with various lewd proposals. But Lucy isn’t listening. She prides herself on her fidelity to her husband, Vatelin, and believes that he holds her in the same regard. If he were ever untrue, however, “I’d take a lover in a heartbeat,” she tells Potegnac. He seizes the opportunity to prove that her husband is also a philanderer.

Potegnac then invites her to go under cover and catch Vatelin in several compromising positions at a nearby hotel that night. A feisty Italian, a battling Hungarian, a brazen American, and a virginal bellhop are just a few of the 13 characters in the show, played by Five actors, who end up traipsing through the suite. Hilarity ensues and everything that could possibly go wrong does.

Dive headfirst into the misadventures of one madcap night in two Parisian hotels in this fast-paced adaptation of Georges Feydeau’s classic farce “Le Dindon” and discover how opening the wrong door in the dark of night can lead to mayhem, laughter, and some unlikely revelations about the secret to a happy marriage.

MEET THE CAST OF "THE DING DONG"

the Ding Dong

Today, we'd like to present to you Ryan Holdaway, who plays Vatelin in this production!

"I have been involved with MHMT since 2015 and this show will be my tenth show, I've been a part of! The theatre community is wonderful, I've met many good friends here and I keep meeting many more!

I was George Bailey in "It's a Wonderful Life", I was Tiny Tim in "A Christmas Carol", and I was also the Hermit in "Young Frankenstein". In this production, I play the married man whose mistakes have come back to haunt him, Vatelin.

In this show, you can expect a lot of outrageous shenanigans, sharp dialogue and a belly bursting amount of slapstick. If I could describe The Ding Dong in 3 short words, it would be "Racy Benny Hill-esc"

First up, we have Shelby Haga playing Lucy, Madame and Pinchard!

"Hey- it’s Shelby here! I have been so fortunate to be a part of MHMT since 2017 and will stay until they tell me I can’t! My recent shows include 'Now.Here.This', 'Titanic: The Musical', and 'Young Frankenstein'. The thing I love about theatre is the sense of camaraderie and belonging to an amazing group of people.

I love playing Lucy because she’s super sassy which is basically my personality. I think audiences will be absolutely delighted throughout this show as it is brilliantly written and full of hilarious one liners.

If I could pick one word for this show… I think it would be hysterical- I’m sure you’ll agree. Enjoy our show and thanks for supporting local theatre!"

Thank YOU, Shelby, for constantly entertaining our audiences!

Today, we'd like to present Genevieve Anne, who plays Madame Pontegnac, Fabiola and Mandy! In her words, "All very different characters but perhaps an extension of my inner beings?? I've said too much...

I have graciously been involved with the Medicine Hat Musical Playhouse since 2008, both as a performer and a choreographer! Despite always having a full plate between running the Medicine Hat School of Performing Arts, teaching, being a 'Banger Bingo' Babe and now running after a crazy but terrific toddler, I can't say no to a good show. Especially when it is being directed by the one and only Lyn Weisgerber!

The past three shows I have performed in were, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Little Shop of Horrors and Rock Of Ages. Then I almost had a break to get ready for motherhood, but still came back to choreograph Mamma Mia while 8 months pregnant......I'm a crazy lady!

Audiences can expect to be taken on a Salacious Whirlwind of Tantalizing Schemes!!!

So, sit up, buckle up and enjoy the show!

We can't WAIT, Genevieve, thank you!

Good morning! Today we present Kent Ertman, and in his words "I play three characters for you: Pontegnac the serial philanderer pursuing Lucy like a pit bull on a steak, the chronically unfaithful Hungarian M. Soldignac, and the elderly Dr. Pinchard with the wandering eye. See a theme here? It’s about as subtle as this show.

This is just my third time on stage and I’m starting to wonder WHY I’m always cast as awful people with absolutely zero redeeming qualities. I had a great time in "Noises Off" and "Sister Act” and am really excited for all of you to experience the chaotic laugh-riot of this show.

I’d like to send my sincere love to my wife Hanya who endured being a stage widow since the new year, so I could be an idiot on stage. She’s filet mignon for sure."

Thank you, Kent, and thank you Hanya for lovingly sharing Kent with MHMT!

Today we present to you Jon Varus, playing Redillon, Bell Boy and Policeman!

"My name is Jon Varus, and this is actually my first show ever with MHMT and I am so excited. This show drew me in because it sounds like it's going to be an absolute riot to be in and to watch! Redillon is probably my favorite character to play because he is a huge jerk and womanizer, but actually comes off as kind of a decent guy compared to the rest of the men in the cast.

If I can describe "The Ding Dong" in one word it would be scandalous (in a good way). I can't wait to see how it all turns out and how the chaos will unfold along with everyone!

Thank you, Jon, and welcome to the MHMT family!

the Ding Dong

Last, but most certainly not least, we have Rae Wahl playing Femme de Chambre!

"Getting involved with MHMT in 1996 was one of the best decisions I’ve made in life. Aside from the joy and sense of accomplishment I feel when a show hits the stage, I have made wonderful, lifelong friends through our shared love of live theatre.

No matter how many times I watch the Ding Dong scenes during rehearsals, I am laughing. I am sure our audiences will have the same reaction.

I only play one character and I take my hat off to my cast-mates who are playing multiple characters.

Come out, relax, laugh with us, and enjoy the Ding Dong."

We can't wait to laugh Rae, thank you!
